Coloured lenses – the facts
Coloured contact lenses are available in two main variants.
Opaque lenses are coloured in such a way as to make naturally dark brown eyes appear a completely different colour, such as blue. Therefore, opaque lenses have an uncoloured circle in the centre of the lens which is about the same size as a normal-sized pupil (otherwise you wouldn't be able to see anything because the coloured parts of the lens are opaque!). Opaque lenses work for anybody.
Tinted contact lenses work best for people who have a pale eye colour to start with (pale blue, pale green, grey or light brown) and who want to change their eye colour to something different or achieve a glitter effect (Freshlook Radiance).
Coloured lenses are often monthly lenses, which means they have to be taken out every night and cleaned, and then put back in in the morning. After a month, these lenses have to be discarded and you have to use new ones.
NB: Don't expect to see exactly the same colour as in the pictures. Coloured lenses give different results depending on the original colour of the eye, and we can't guarantee what effect you'll see.
